    Tragedy struck near Milford this Friday evening as a woman in her 70s died in a road traffic collision.

    The incident, involving a car and a van, occurred at approximately 7:30 PM at Bunlin Bridge, located on the road between Milford and Cranford.

    The female driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Her remains have been transported to Letterkenny University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

    The van driver, a man in his 50s, was also taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

    The road is currently closed and will remain so overnight to facilitate a forensic examination by Garda Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place, and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.

    Gardaí are appealing to the public for any information regarding this incident.

    Specifically, they are requesting that any road users who were travelling in the area between 7:15 PM and 7:45 PM and possess camera footage (including dash-cam recordings) share this footage with investigating Gardaí.

    Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact Milford Garda Station at (074) 9153060, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
