A woman in her 60s is receiving treatment for what Gardaí are describing as “life-threatening injuries” sustained in a two-car collision outside Letterkenny this evening.

Gardaí are seeking witnesses to the two-vehicle road traffic accident that occurred on the N13 Letterkenny to Ballybofey road in the Listillion townland at approximately 5:05 pm.

The driver of one of the vehicles, a woman in her 60s, is currently being treated for life-threatening injuries at Letterkenny University Hospital.

No other injuries were reported at the scene.

The road will remain closed overnight to allow for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators, and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information relating to this incident to come forward.

Specifically, Gardaí are asking anyone who was on the N13 at Listillion between 4:50 pm and 5:15 pm and may have witnessed the collision to contact investigating Gardaí.

Any road users who were traveling in the area at the time and possess relevant camera footage, including dashcam footage, are requested to provide this footage to investigating Gardaí.

Contact can be made with Gardaí at Letterkenny Garda Station on 074 9167100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

    The investigation is ongoing.
