    Smyths Daleside, a leading animal feed manufacturer in Northwest Ireland since 1865, is hiring!

    For over 155 years, we have been committed to producing top-quality feeds that exceed customer expectations.

    We are currently seeking applications for the permanent position of General Operator at our Ballindrait mill.

    General Operator Job Ref No: SD/GO/06/25

    Key Responsibilities:

    This role ensures the smooth operation of material intake, packaging, and dispatch. Responsibilities include inspecting and approving deliveries, managing stock control systems, and ensuring feed is manufactured to the required quality standards and production schedule.

    • Operating a high-speed automated bagger and palletiser line;
    • Maintaining a high standard of hygiene through good manufacturing practices;
    • Assisting customers with loading outgoing goods;
    • Picking orders and loading lorries for next-day deliveries;
    • Adhering to the Health and Safety Policy and all specific safety policies and Standard Operating Procedures.

    Ideal Candidate:

    • Minimum of one year’s experience in a production setting;
    • Basic computer skills;
    • Practical knowledge of stock control measures;
    • Interest in and understanding of agriculture;
    • Excellent communication skills and a friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic attitude;
    • Experience driving a tractor with a valid license is a plus.

    The ideal candidate is reliable, efficient, motivated, and a team player. You should possess a good standard of education, enabling accurate documentation and clear communication.

    The regular working schedule is Monday to Thursday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and Friday from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, with occasional Saturday work as required.
