US President Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against Dow Jones, News Corp, Rupert Murdoch, and two Wall Street Journal reporters, alleging violations of federal libel law, according to court records. The complaint itself was not immediately available. The case was filed in Miami federal court on Friday.
The lawsuit follows a Wall Street Journal report regarding a 50th birthday greeting allegedly sent by Trump to Jeffrey Epstein in 2003. The report claimed the greeting included a sexually suggestive drawing and alluded to shared secrets.
Trump aides were also reportedly set to request the release of grand jury testimony related to Epstein on Friday, as Trump defends his administration’s handling of the convicted sex offender’s case following his death.
Trump has strongly denied the Journal’s report, which Reuters has not independently verified. He had previously warned News Corp founder Rupert Murdoch of his intention to sue.
