Despite this, Kumar was handed over to the local police for further investigation, as confirmed by Cochin International Airport Ltd in a press release. Although Kumar was not permitted to continue his journey, the Air India flight departed on time, ensuring that other passengers were not affected.This incident at Kochi Airport serves as a stark reminder of the serious consequences that can arise from making jokes or casual comments about bombs or security threats in an airport setting. Recently, a similar event occurred involving another passenger, Prashant, a businessman from Thiruvananthapuram, who joked about a bomb during a pre-flight check. His remark led to his arrest and caused a delay of over two hours for his Thai Airlines flight. Prashant, along with his family and two other passengers checked in under the same PNR, were barred from boarding the aircraft. Their luggage was also recalled for further inspection.According to aviation security rules, non-specific bomb threats, even those made in jest, can result in a jail term of up to five years.
