    A busy week for Rosses AC, both locally and nationally, highlighted by Aidan Gillespie’s gold medal at the All Ireland Masters Championships in Tullamore.

    Aidan (main pic) showcased his excellent form by winning the Over 50 category in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 15.91 seconds. Congratulations to Aidan for his hard work and achievement!

    On Sunday, Tullamore hosted the Inter County Finals, where Oisin Gillespie represented the club in the High Jump and Steeple Chase, and Aidan Gillespie competed in the Weight For Distance event. Both contributed valuable points to the Donegal team, helping them secure second place overall, just behind Galway and ahead of Kerry. Michael Logue served as the Team Manager.

    David McKelvey who won both the Burtonport and Dungloe 5ks

    Locally, at the Dungloe Festival 5k, David McKelvey secured first place in 16:41, followed by junior star Evan Ward in second with 17:27. Ben McGee was the Male Junior winner in 19:03. In the M40 category, Paul McKelvey finished in 17:58. Helen McCready won the ladies’ race in 18:24, with Bernie Boyle taking third in 19:11. Teresa Gallagher won the F40 category in 21:16, and Cathy Breslin won the F50 category in 21:49. At the Burtonport Festival 5k, David McKelvey again claimed victory in 16:19, with Mark Ward finishing third in 16:58. A shoutout to Evan Ward, 4th overall and first junior, with a fantastic time of 17:06. Maria McGee won the ladies’ race in 17:28, followed by Helen McCready in 17:52 and Bernie Boyle in 18:32. Claire O’Donnell won the F40 category in 18:42. Congratulations to Nicole O’Donnell for her first sub-20 time of 19:56 and to Leah Ward, first junior, in 20:16. At the Castleblayney 10 miler, Brendan McBride finished third in a competitive M60 category in 1:13:18. Last Sunday at the Danny McDaid 15k, Keith O’Connell finished in 59:17, followed by James McGeehan in 60:23, Colin Mooney in 65:03, and Denis Boner in 67:21. In the ladies’ race, Emily Bonner finished within the top 10 in 9th place and 4th in her age category with a time of 71:24. A reminder that the Carrickfinn Coastal Challenge 10k is on Bank Holiday Monday, August 4th, with a start time of 11 am.
