Over €30,000 has been awarded to seven festivals and summer schools in County Donegal through a government funding initiative.
Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan, announced the funding as part of the Small Scale Local Festivals and Summer Schools Scheme.
The following Donegal-based events each received €5,000 in funding: Mary from Dungloe festival, Mícheál Ó Cléirigh Summer School, MacGill Summer School, Dorn San Aer, and Donegal Summer School of Music. An tSean Bheairic in Falcarragh was granted €4,762, while Milford and District Resource Centre secured €1,100. A complete list of recipients is available via this LINK.
Across Ireland, a total of €293,252 has been allocated to 64 events scheduled for 2025.
The Small Scale Local Festivals and Summer Schools Scheme aims to support local cultural events that may not qualify for funding from larger bodies such as Fáilte Ireland or the Arts Council. Applications closed at 1pm on April 4th, 2024. Funding was awarded through a competitive process, with a maximum grant amount of €5,000.
