A man in his 40s has been arrested by Gardaí following the seizure of a significant amount of herbal cannabis.
The seizure resulted from a joint operation involving An Garda Síochána and the Customs Service.
During the operation, a van was stopped in Ballycarney, County Wexford, where approximately 80kg of cannabis was discovered, according to Gardaí.
The seized drugs have been submitted to Forensic Science Ireland for further analysis.
The arrested man is being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, and is being held at a Garda station in the east of the country.
He can be questioned by Gardaí for a period of up to seven days regarding the incident.
