A coach carrying passengers from Denmark to Austria veered off a road in northern Germany and overturned, resulting in injuries to over 20 individuals, one of whom is seriously hurt.
Police reported that the Flixbus-operated coach left the motorway in the early hours near Robel, a city located approximately 85 miles north of Berlin.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
Flixbus stated that the coach, en route from Copenhagen to Vienna, had 53 passengers and two drivers on board, with a total of 23 people injured. Rescuers spent approximately two hours extracting the seriously injured victim.
Emergency services, including the fire brigade and a rescue helicopter, were dispatched to the scene. Authorities closed off the affected section of the road throughout Friday morning.
Flixbus expressed “great dismay” regarding the crash and stated that they are cooperating with authorities to determine the cause of the incident.
