Mark English of Finn Valley AC has once again secured gold at the Irish National Athletics Championships.
He clinched his tenth national 800m title at the Morton Stadium in Dublin, finishing with a time of 1:48.77.
English successfully defended his title against a formidable challenge from rising star Cian McPhillips, who took silver.
McPhillips, from Longford, was widely considered a strong contender, and he lived up to expectations by pushing English to the limit in a thrilling race.
Ultimately, English’s experience proved decisive in securing the victory.
This win continues English’s impressive run of form over the past year.
He is now focused on the upcoming Tokyo Games and the World Athletics Championships in September.
