A man will face trial in the Circuit Criminal Court after being charged with the rape of a woman in Donegal.

The alleged incident, a violation of Section 4 of the Criminal Law (Rape) (Amendment) Act, 1990, reportedly occurred in south Donegal in December of 2023.

Prior to a recent court appearance, Gardaí presented the defendant with the book of evidence.

The court was informed that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has instructed that the defendant be sent forward for trial at the current session of the Circuit Criminal Court.

The man was released on continuing bail pending his appearance in the Circuit Criminal Court. The judge issued an order prohibiting the publication of any information that could identify the alleged victim.
