A man and woman, both in their eighties, have been discovered dead at a home in Glounthaune village, located seven kilometers east of Cork City.
According to the Garda Press Office, Gardaí in Mayfield, on Cork City’s northside, were called to an incident at a Glounthaune residence on Monday.
“Gardaí responded to the scene and found the bodies of a man and a woman, both in their 80s, inside the house,” the Garda spokesperson stated.
“The scene has been secured for a technical examination. No additional details are available currently.”
However, initial indications suggest no foul play was involved.
The coroner has been informed, and the deceased’s bodies have been transported to Cork University Hospital (CUH) for post-mortem examinations.
The outcomes of these examinations will guide the direction of the Garda investigation.
