Letterkenny is hosting the NZEB (Near Zero Energy Building) Retrofit Mobile Training Unit this week, offering local homeowners free, practical training and expert advice on energy-efficient home improvements.
Spearheaded by Donegal Local Development CLG (DLDC) in partnership with Mount Lucas and LOETB, this initiative aims to empower homeowners to enhance their homes’ energy efficiency, comfort, and sustainability.
With energy costs soaring and increasingly stringent housing standards, improving energy performance is crucial. However, for homeowners grappling with defective concrete blocks, there’s the added challenge of coordinating structural repairs with energy grant applications and retrofit programs.
To address these specific concerns, DLDC is organizing a special information session on Wednesday, July 23rd, from 4 PM to 6 PM at ATU Letterkenny.
Neil Gallagher of DLDC will lead the event, focusing on providing practical support to homeowners affected by defective blocks. Representatives from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) will also be present to offer guidance on available grants and retrofit options, particularly for homes undergoing repair or reconstruction.
In addition to expert presentations, information on green loans offered through local Credit Unions will be available. Throughout the week, drop-in clinics will provide free, personalized guidance on various topics, including insulation upgrades and BER ratings.
This event is free and open to the public. If you or someone you know is dealing with defective blocks or simply wants to learn how to make their home more energy-efficient, this is an excellent opportunity to access support services and gain reliable information.
