Cormac Meehan, a prominent Donegal business leader, is retiring after 38 years.
Meehan, the owner of Meehan Travel Worldchoice and Sean Meehan Chartered Valuation Surveyors in Bundoran, has announced his retirement, effective at the end of August this year.
His retirement will coincide with the closure of both businesses in August, marking the end of 75 years of operation within the Meehan family.
Sean Meehan, Cormac’s father, established the family business in 1959. Cormac took over the operation following his father’s death in 1987.
Cormac has led the business for 38 years, since inheriting the family trade.
During his career, Cormac served as President of both the Irish Travel Agents Association and the Irish Auctioneers and Valuers Institute.
Following his retirement, Cormac will continue to serve as a National Property Arbitrator for the Land Values Reference Committee of the High Court.
In announcing his retirement, Cormac expressed his gratitude to his frontline team: Kathleen McDaid, Fiona Feely, and Caroline McNamara, acknowledging their vital contribution to the businesses’ success, along with their predecessors, over the years.
He also specifically thanked the customers who have supported both businesses throughout the decades.
“We have always enjoyed a very special relationship with our customers, our suppliers and, indeed, our statutory regulators such as the Irish Aviation Authority and the Property Services Regulatory Authority.”
“Travel bookings with existing customers will continue without interruption, and future bookings will be referred to our travel agency colleagues, Mullaney Travel Worldchoice in Sligo and Atlantic Travel Worldchoice in Letterkenny,” Cormac stated.
Finally, Cormac thanked his wife, Maureen, for her unwavering support throughout the years.
“She is a powerhouse of support and has enjoyed sharing this adventure with me. We are both looking forward to the next chapter of our lives.”
