Donegal has seen a significant drop in planning permissions granted during the first quarter of this year, with a decrease of nearly 30%.
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) data reveals that 119 permissions were granted for houses and 9 for apartments (a total of 125) in Donegal between January and March. This represents a 27.7% decrease compared to the 164 permissions granted in the same period in 2024.
Across the country, the total number of dwelling units approved in Quarter 1 (Q1) 2025 fell by 2.5% year-on-year, reaching 8,177 units, down from 8,387 units in Q1 2024.
