A judge in a Donegal district court has imposed strict penalties on motorists who illegally park in designated disabled parking spaces.
Several cases of this nature were addressed by Judge Ciaran Liddy at Letterkenny District Court today.
Only vehicles displaying an official disabled parking permit are authorized to park without charge in public disabled parking bays.
Judge Liddy issued fines of €250 to those found guilty of the offense.
Some individuals argued they were only briefly utilizing the disabled parking space.
However, Judge Liddy took a firm stance against the offenders, imposing not only monetary fines but also a three-month driving ban for each individual case.
