Co. Roscommon experienced Ireland’s highest temperature in almost three years on Friday.
Met Éireann reported that Mount Dillon reached a scorching 29.6C, marking not only the year’s highest temperature but also the hottest June day since 2018.
The same location recorded a temperature of 27C on Thursday.
Other high temperatures included 28.9C in Finner, Co. Donegal; 28.7C in Markree, Co. Sligo; and 28.5C in both Claremorris, Co. Mayo and Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.
According to meteorologist Mark Bowe, the northwest region experienced the most significant warmth on Friday.
He also indicated that more variable weather is expected, with a mix of showers and sunshine in the forecast for the days ahead.
