The Twin Towns community is deeply saddened by the passing of Charlie Bonner, a well-known and respected businessman, at the age of 82.

A true gentleman and family man, Charlie Bonner, originally from Donegal Street, Ballybofey, was known for his kindness and friendship to all.

He established Charles Bonner and Sons and The Stove Store, providing heating and plumbing solutions for over half a century.

Born on August 28th, 1942, Charlie learned the importance of hard work early in life, starting as a welder in The Forge alongside his father.

Formerly of Donegal Road, he was predeceased by his father, Joe, his mother, Annie, and his daughter, Geraldine. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemary, and his children: Kathleen, Francis, Joe, Charles, Breda, Tommy, Donal, and Dermot.

“From humble beginnings, Charlie built his life and his business with dedication and hard work, establishing Charles Bonner and Sons and The Stove Store,” stated a heartfelt tribute from the family business.

“Charlie was the heart and soul of our business. He always offered a warm welcome to every customer, engaging with them personally. He was a true character, known for his wonderful sense of humour and a story for every occasion!”

“As an employer, Charlie led with compassion, humility, and generosity. He treated us like family, and his legacy will live on in the strong and loyal team he built.”

“Above all, Charlie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, neighbour, and friend. Charlie Bonner was a unique individual whose influence will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew him.”

“Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís.” (There will never be his like again.)

Details regarding the funeral arrangements will be announced later.
