German police are set to conduct new searches in Portugal related to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
Madeleine McCann vanished in 2007 at the age of three while on vacation with her family in Praia da Luz. Her parents were dining out, leaving her and her twin siblings asleep in their room.
The Sun reported on Monday that the searches will take place this week in the vicinity of where she was last seen.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police stated: “We are aware of the searches being carried by the BKA (German federal police) in Portugal as part of their investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
“The Metropolitan Police Service is not present at the search; however, we will provide support to our international colleagues where necessary.”
Christian Brueckner, the main suspect in the case, is currently imprisoned in Germany, serving a seven-year sentence for the 2005 rape of an elderly woman at her home in Praia da Luz.
