With rising temperatures, Gardaí are appealing to the Donegal public to report any missing or stolen life rings.

Ring buoys are essential life-saving devices, and their availability is crucial in emergency situations.

“We encourage the public to inform Gardaí or Water Safety Ireland if they notice a ring buoy missing, damaged, or observe any misuse or theft of this vital safety equipment,” stated a Garda spokesperson.

The Gardaí also offered the following safety tips for beach visits this weekend:

    • Never swim alone.
    • Always swim parallel to the shore.
    • Never use inflatables.
    • Always swim in front of the Lifeguard Station.
    • Check the tide times.
    • Check the weather.
    • If unfamiliar with a swimming location, speak to locals before entering the water.

Remember, if you see someone in distress in or near the water, dial 112 or 999 and request the Coast Guard.
