Following the conclusion of the Donegal International Rally, Gardaí have expressed their gratitude to the overwhelming majority of attendees for their positive behavior throughout the event.

Gardaí praised rally participants, stating, “We extend our thanks to the majority of visitors to Donegal during the rally weekend for their compliance and cooperation. The vast majority were law-abiding and a pleasure to interact with. We hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.”

The annual rally, a cornerstone of the Irish motorsport calendar, once again drew thousands of motorsport fans to Donegal.

Leading up to the weekend, Gardaí significantly increased their presence, deploying additional officers and unmarked vehicles across the county. This strategy involved numerous checkpoints, high-visibility patrols and educational campaigns.

This intensified enforcement resulted in a significant number of dangerous drivers being removed from the roads, along with detections for various offences. These included drink and drug driving, speeding, illegal vehicle modifications, and vehicles operating without valid NCT certificates or insurance, all identified by roads policing units.

Despite these offenses, An Garda Síochána’s overarching message was to ‘Keep the Race in its Place,’ and they were pleased with the collaboration shown by most attendees.

“For those who have yet to travel home, we wish you a safe journey,” the statement continued.

“We hope to welcome you back in 2026!”
