Mark English showcased his impressive form at the Diamond League Meet in Paris, achieving the second-fastest time of his career.
The Finn Valley athlete secured a sixth-place finish in the highly competitive men’s 800m race.
Paris, hosting its first major athletic competition since the previous year’s Olympic Games, witnessed English clock his second sub-1:44 time this month.
The Letterkenny native, who earlier in the month became the first Irish athlete to break the 1:44 barrier in the 800m, recorded a time of 1:43.98. Mohamed Attaoui of Spain won the race with a time of 1:42.73.
This marks the second occasion in two weeks that English has improved upon his own Irish record.
This achievement builds upon his European 800m bronze medal win in March.
