Raphoe Town 3-5 Fanad United
Fanad United maintained their unbeaten run in this year’s league campaign with a well-deserved win over Raphoe Town in Drumineney on Monday night. There was little to separate the sides in the first half, Fanad taking an early lead through Teresa Coll but Raphoe responding almost immediately with a super headed goal from Sarah Parke.
Two goals apiece from Raphoe’s Aimee Lafferty and Fanad’s Clodagh Heron saw the skies go in level 3-3 at the break. However Fanad were much the better team in the second half and played some excellent football. Clodagh Heron completed her hat-trick to restore their lead and the points were secured when Michelle Doherty scored from long-range with 15 minutes to go to seal the win.
Keadue Rovers vs Bonagee United (Bonagee Win)
Bonagee Utd remain top of the table after this win at Central Park on Monday evening, where 3 late goals put a different complexion on what had previously been a very competitive game. Keadue, fielding a hugely changed and inexperienced team for various reasons, had a tough opening few minutes with Bonagee starting well on the right wing, with Bridgeen Devenney and Hannah Hopkins doing well. Chantelle Grant was getting space in midfield and hit wide on six minutes. After ten minutes, the home side settled, stringing a few passes together. On ten minutes Keadue keeper Ellie McGarvey made a superb stop at the far post, getting down to palm away a Bonagee effort. They kept applying the pressure and Claire Doherty missed what looked a certain goal on thirteen minutes. Grant again in midfield was getting a lot of space in midfield and the Keadue back line and keeper McGarvey were sharp to snuff out the Bonagee threat. Keadue after the halfway point in the 1st half, settled more and an Aislinn Coll corner was headed wide by Leah Duffy, while a minute after Coll’s long range effort was just over. More chances fell to the away side after the half hour but all the while Keadue grew into the challenge with some good link play on the right from Caoimhe Gallagher and Orla Ferry. With gaining confidence, Keadue would’ve been confident going into the second half, but just one minute before half time, a ball from the right wing was nicked in at the near post by Orla McBride for a 1-0 lead for Bonagee, which was deserved but was hard on a young Keadue team who were performing so well. Keadue had the first chance of the second half, when Aislinn Coll played in behind a superb ball and Ellie Bonner on the run hit it well but it just went left and wide. Bonagee’s Natalie McFadden remained dangerous up front and her effort went over after forty eight minutes. Bonagee’s Deborah Kerrigan was getting some good balls on the right wing and her shot on fifty two minutes was well saved by McGarvey. Keadue’s centre half pairing of Carly Wallace and Bridin Hynes were doing really well to keep Bonagee at bay but on fifty four minutes, a shot from Deborah Kerrigan scrambled in at the near post via a deflection to make it 2-0. Chantelle Grant again dictated a lot of Bonagee play and another chance fell to Hannah Hopkins. Just after the hour Keadue’s Kayla Gallagher did some fine individual work and her shot was well saved by Mailey in the Bonagee goals. From the resultant corner, Coll’s cross hit the bar. Only a minute later, on sixty two minutes the game ended as a contest when what you looked a certain foul on Keadue keeper McGarvey, in saving a through ball, broke to Kerrigan on the edge of the box and she hit home for 3-0. Keadue were stretched at this stage having put in a massive effort. On eighty minutes, from a Kerrigan cross, Natalie McFadden rose to head home a fourth. Hannah Hopkins long range effort on eighty seven minutes and in injuiry time, Ellen Temple was on hand to knock in a 6th to finish the scoring. Overall, Bonagee the better team but the scoreline does not reflect the input of a very inexperienced and yet hugely hardworking Keadue side, who gave their all and we hope are a team for the future. Thanks to referee Paddy McCauley and to Bonagee for travelling.

Finn Valley Gaels 3-1 Drumbar United
Tuesday evening saw Finn valley welcome Drumbar United to the Finn Valley Centre on a great evening for football. The 1st half was a close affair with both teams having their chances but it was eventually Emily Mc Menamin who put the home side ahead mid way through the half. The 2nd half was much the same with both teams going end to end before Saoirse Mc Menamin added a 2nd for Finn Valley. Drumbar got one back with a great strike of their own but then Finn Valley got their third with a great individual goal by Saoirse McMenamin. A very entertaining game between two very even teams and a game that was played in great spirit. Good luck to Drumbar for rest of season and thanks to Oisin Toye who did a great job officiating.
Lagan Harps 4-2 Keadue Rovers
Lagan and Keadue served up a great game with an exciting finish. Lagan started strong and took the lead on ten minutes when Catherine Caldwell fired home a Caoimhe Sweeney cross. It was nip and tuck for most of the half. Lagan went 2-0 up just before halftime with another good finish from Catherine. The second half saw Keadue pressing but Lagan were creating chances on the counter with Emily Mc Mahon pushing forward and Katie Gildea and Caoimhe Sweeney down the wings. Katie was having a great battle with Tamara Parker. Lagan went close when Caoimhe Sweeney forced a good save from Robyn Duffy with Alana Mc Fadden putting the rebound just wide. Minutes later Alana capitalised on another rebound to put Lagan 3-0 up. Katie Gildea then fired home another rebound and the game looked over. Keadue responded superbly with goals from Evie and Fia Ham on forty nine and fifty minutes to really open up the game. It was end to end and Caoimhe Sweeney hit the crossbar for Lagan while at the other end Emily Craig pulled off a good save. However with the pressure on the Caldwell twins Amanda and Catherine stood solid down the middle and Lagan came away with the points. Lagan played some great football at times but Keadue deserve huge credit for their never say die spirit and their strong finish.
Dunfanaghy Youths 0-0 Illistrin As
On a perfect evening for football, Dunfanaghy Youths U12 Girls travelled to Illistrin for a thrilling encounter against Illistrin FC that kept spectators on the edge of their seats from start to finish. From the first whistle, both teams showed great determination and skill, making it a closely contested battle throughout. Dunfanaghy Youths, led by their captain Clara Ward Duffy, played with real purpose. Clara was a driving force in midfield and came close to scoring on several occasions with some powerful efforts and clever positioning. Illistrin answered back by attacking with intent but were unable to break the Dunfanaghy defence. Dunfanaghy’s Sophie Barber impressed on the wing with her tireless running, nearly breaking the deadlock with a well-worked chance. In the dying moments of the game, Fiadh McGinley made a brilliant run through the Illistrin defence and looked certain to score, but her shot drifted narrowly wide, much to the relief of the home crowd. Illistrin FC’s goalkeeper was in outstanding form, pulling off a number of key saves to keep her side level. Beth Mc Shane also performed well for Illistrin. Dunfanaghy’s Aisling Alcorn also stood out in defence, showing great determination in what was a strong team performance overall. While the game ended scoreless, it was a great advertisement for girls’ football — full of energy and skill. Both teams can be proud of their performances on a beautiful evening in Illistrin.

Kilmacrennan Celtic 1-1 Bonagee United
Kilmacrennan Celtic welcomed second-placed Bonagee United to Lurgy Park on Tuesday evening for matchday 8 of a competitive First Division. The hosts made a bright start, but it was Bonagee who struck first. Just five minutes in, Ellie Doherty’s clever through ball sliced through the Kilmacrennan defence, allowing Sadie Harvey to race through and finish cooly past Aimee O’Donnell. A tightly packed midfield led to a competitive and entertaining first half, with both sides battling for control. As half-time approached, Kilmac came close to equalising when Eimear Gallagher’s long-range half-volley skimmed the crossbar. Bonagee nearly extended their lead straight from the resulting kick-out, but a fine effort from the lively Gráinne Kelly was brilliantly saved by the excellent Aimee O’Donnell after some superb build-up play from Abbie Clarke. Kilmacrennan came out with more energy in the second half. A slick move down the left between Katie Gillespie and Sophie McCrossan opened up space for Hayley Callaghan to switch the ball to Gallagher on the right. Her first-time strike rifled into the net to bring Kilmac level. Bonagee responded strongly to the setback and applied more pressure, with Leah Orr and Savannah McElhinney particularly threatening. Kilmac’s defence held firm, with Caoimhe McKinney making a crucial late interception to preserve the draw. Millie O’Donavan and Ava Price stood out in defence for Bonagee, while Ella McGough delivered a confident display in goal and goalscorer Sadie Harvey was a constant threat from the first minute. Kilmacrennan put in a solid team performance, with contributions all over the pitch. In the end, a draw was a fair result. A special thanks to referee Sean O’Donnell for a great free-flowing match.
Glenree 2-1 Kildrum Tigers
Kildrum started the game the stronger with the wind at their backs. They had the majority of the possession but the Glenree back line led by Sarah Coyle did well to keep the game scoreless at half time. Second half started with Kildrum attacking resulting in a free kick which Harper Lynch McMahon stepped up to take and struck it well to give the away side the lead. The lead was short lived when on the 36min Erin Caldwell stole possession out on the wing and slipped the ball to Ceanna Mc Elhinney who unselfishly laid it off to Lilly Friel to slot home . Glenree kept the high press on forcing a number of corners from the Kildrum kick outs and on the 42nd min Ellie Wilkin volleyed home an Erin Caldwell corner a brilliant finish from the feisty left back. For the remainder of the match both teams had chances to score but Glenree held on to the lead and the 3 points. Good performances from both teams and thanks to the referee Matthew Hull

Mulroy Academy 2-0 Gweedore United
In glorious sunshine at Rabs Park, Mulroy Academy U16 Girls welcomed Gweedore United for the return leg of their Premier League fixture – and they didn’t disappoint the home crowd. Having edged out Gweedore six weeks earlier in a tight 1-0 encounter, Mulroy wasted no time asserting themselves this time around. With barely a minute on the clock, Amy McAteer expertly took a touch from a pinpoint Mary-Bridget McGeever cross before rifling the ball into the top corner – a dream start for the hosts. The first half unfolded with both sides creating promising opportunities, but defensive discipline on both ends made finishing in the final third a real challenge. With the game finely balanced the teams went in at the break with Mulroy holding a narrow 1-0 advantage. The second half saw Mulroy play some delightful football, building confidently from the back. A standout move involving several players culminated with Aishling Duffy threading a perfect pass through to Erin Carlin. Carlin cut inside the defender and curled an inch-perfect effort beyond the keeper to double the home side’s lead. Refusing to give in, Gweedore pressed forward in search of a lifeline. Their best chance came when the tireless Lilly Rodgers broke through the Mulroy defence, only to see her effort parried away by McGeever. Brianna Ferry was first to the rebound but agonisingly sent her shot over the crossbar with the goal at her mercy. That proved to be the final action of a spirited and entertaining 80 minutes with Mulroy taking all three points in a hard-fought contest. The girls now take a well-earned break as players across the league prepare to compete in the Foyle Cup. Mulroy will return to league action with a crucial top-of-the-table clash away to Finn Valley, buoyed by tonight’s result which sees them stretch an 8-point lead at the summit.

Bonagee United 1-1 Keadue Rovers
The sun was out for the meeting of U16 Bonagee and Keadue girls at Dry Arch Park. Around 10 minutes into the game Keadue’s Rebecca Reetsang was close to getting her side the first goal of the game however it wasn’t meant to be. This title would go to Grace McBride who just before the 20 minute mark put Bonagee on the scoresheet. Keadue came close again however it went into Bonagee’s goalkeeper Ruth Hopkins’ hands. At the 30 minute mark Keadue got their goal with Rebecca Reetsang scoring, leaving the sides 1-1 at halftime. As the second half began both teams were very close to getting their second of the game but didn’t pay off. Soon after corners from both sides again nearly changed the scoreline but
again no result. Keadue’s Ellie Bonner came very close but with no luck. A great run by Bonagee’s Ellen Temple led Cari Callaghan McElwaine to putting the Letterkenny girls ahead but just not enough. Keadue’s Rebecca Reetsang and Ellie Bonner produced a number of chances but the Keadue girls remained with the same score. Bonagee’s Cara Shields produced a lovely strike, which looked very promising. However, did not end with a goal. In a game with two evenly matched sides, the scoreline finished with both sides sharing the spoils at 1-1.
Division 2
Raphoe Town 1-0 Convoy Arsenal
A cracking goal from Nakita Frizzell proved to be the difference between the teams as Raphoe Town got the better of neighbours Convoy Arsenal in closely fought game in Drumineney. There was nothing between the teams in the first half, but that was largely down to some fine goalkeeping from Convoy’s Rhea Parke who denied Raphoe on several occasions and had a running battle with Raphoe’s midfielder Leah Holmes who was outstanding for the home side. In the end Holmes was involved in the goal that proved to be the winner, picking up a fine pass from Jenna Lynch before finding the unmarked Frizzell who smashed the ball to the roof of the net to give Raphoe the lead. Convoy were always a threat going forward with the lively Jenna Doherty keeping the Raphoe defence on their toes, but the home side, well marshalled by Brooke Johnston, were in no mood to give anything away. Raphoe did press for a second and came close on a couple of occasions, but in the end one goal was enough to seal the points in a well contested and sporting game.
Letterkenny Rovers 1-3 Lagan Harps
Lagan started the brighter of the two sides, with Amy Lateef opening the scoring after just 15 minutes. However, Rovers responded well, and it wasn’t long before Savanna Keys found the equaliser, slotting home to bring the sides level. Lagan regained control and pressed forward, with Abi Nesbitt restoring their lead in the 36th minute to give the visitors a 2-1 advantage heading into halftime. Rovers came out stronger in the second half and created several chances, including a dangerous effort from Cadhla McVeigh, which was well saved by Lagan goalkeeper Ciara Cullen. The midfield battle between Aoise Diver (Rovers) and Sinead McLoughlin (Lagan) became a standout feature of the game. Following an injury to Aisling McGinley, Savanna Keys dropped into midfield and began to influence play, helping Rovers build momentum. Despite this, Lagan remained disciplined and organised in defence. As Rovers pushed for an equaliser, Abi Nesbitt struck again in injury time, sealing the win with her second of the match and ensuring all three points went to Lagan Harps.

Hanna Stolarczyk threatened on the right for Bonagee, getting some good crosses into the box. In the second half Bonagee started to grow into the game with Ruby Sheridan and Reah Robinson doing well in midfield. Milford threatened on the wings with Lucy Sweeney and Lucy McNulty doing really well putting some dangerous balls into the box. Thanks to referee Barry Tourish who had an excellent game.
Finn Valley 1-1 Keadue Rovers
Finn Valley started the game very well and the early pressure paid off when Islagh Patton finished well from a excellent corner from Finn Valley captain Kate Mc Menamin. Valley continued to press for the rest of the first half but the excellent Keadue defence stood strong and they came more in to game as the half wore on. Keadue keeper made a great save from Rose Mc Connell early in the second half and this was to prove crucial. A brilliant strike from Ella Bonner from 40yards out found the top corner, a strike worthy of any occasion. Both teams had chance and battled hard in a very even game, and the keadue keeper pulled off another fine save from Caoimhe Sleigh late in the game. Two good teams who will battle it out again in the coming weeks. Thanks to John Duffy for an excellent game also.
St Catherines vs Mulroy Academy (Mulroy Win)
Mulroy had a comprehensive win vs St Catherine’s yesterday evening at Eany although with St Catherine’s girls missing several players through injury and holidays they put up a good performance in the first half only going in at half time 1-2. But with no substitutes to call on and with 5 of their team coming up from u12s Mulroy just had too much in the second half as the St Catherine’s girls tired and with Mulroy using the bench they ran out easy winners in the end, the Saints girls never gave up and kept playing right to the end of the game, it was a good experience for the younger girls and they didn’t look out of place, thanks to mulroy for the very sporting game played in a good spirit with good football played by both teams, Referee Paddy Colhoun.

However, with super performances on the night from Tara Coyle, Erin Coyle, Leah Boyce, Eilís O’Connell and Mia McGettigan, it was all Glenree in the second half and they tore through the Raphoe defence time and again to run out convincing 4-1 winners in the end. Drumbar United 5-8 Swilly Rovers
Swilly Rovers made the journey to Drumbar for what turned out to be a thrilling, end-to-end goal fest, with both sides showcasing a host of superbly taken goals. Drumbar got off to a dream start when Clara McBride opened the scoring in the 3rd minute with a fantastic effort. However, Swilly responded quickly through Anna Pshenycna, who found the net with a composed finish to level the match. Swilly then took the lead as Meabh Kennedy fired home a stunner from the edge of the box to make it 2-1. But Drumbar didn’t back down—Alex Crawford equalised with a well-taken goal, and shortly after, Emma Thomas put the home side back in front at 3-2. Just before the break, Swilly’s Anna Pshenycna struck again, grabbing her second of the night to leave the game finely poised at 3-3 heading into halftime. The second half saw Swilly Rovers come out strongly. Naomi Speer edged them ahead once again, and Siomha McFadden added to the tally with a cool finish to extend their lead to 5-3.
