Jamie Meehan, a promising road cyclist from Donegal, is attracting attention from a World Tour team, signaling a significant step in his career.
Meehan’s impressive performance this year includes a U23 victory and a second-place overall finish in the prestigious Rás Tailteann, Ireland’s premier cycling event.
He’s also been competing at the UCI Continental level, the tier directly below the World Tour, gaining valuable experience.
The 21-year-old has achieved notable results with the French team AVC Aix Provence Dole, and now aims to impress another French squad: according to StickyBottle.
Jamie will join Team Cofidis as a stagiaire (trialist), a team that regularly competes at the World Tour level against cycling giants like Tadej Pogacar’s UAE Team Emirates, Jonas Vingegaard’s Visma Lease-a-bike, and established contenders such as INEOS Grenadiers and Red Bull Bora.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the Mountcharles native to gain experience riding alongside some of the world’s best cyclists, potentially leading to a full contract on the World Tour.
Securing that contract could mean another Irish cyclist to support in future editions of the Tour de France.
