Donegal Library Service is thrilled to present a summer packed with fun events for children!

Starting June 3rd, all library branches will host a wide array of engaging activities, creating a vibrant and enjoyable environment for children.

Through hands-on workshops, captivating story sessions, and interactive games, the library aims to cultivate a lifelong passion for books, learning, and libraries in children of all ages.

The Summer Stars Programme boasts a diverse selection of activities catering to various interests. From mini golf and Lego challenges to painting and craft classes, manga art, baby techno raves, puppetry, and friendship bracelet making, there’s truly something for everyone this summer!

Each participant will receive incentives for signing up for Summer Stars and prizes will be awarded in local branches to encourage reading goals. This year, in partnership with Rannóg na Gaeilge of Donegal County Council, children who borrow Irish language books will have the chance to win special prizes.

Continuing the “Plant the Reading Seed” theme, participants in the 2025 summer programme will also receive a seeded bookmark, allowing them to experience the magic of watching flowers bloom and grow.

At the programme launch, Mayor of the Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District Cllr Gerry McMonagle remarked, “I am delighted to launch this fantastic programme. The impressive volume and range of events across all Donegal County Library branches truly sets this summer initiative apart. With over a hundred events scheduled, and considering the expense of summer camps, our libraries offer free activities ensuring that every child across the county can participate. I wholeheartedly commend the Library Service for their commitment to accessibility and inclusivity.”

Visit your nearest Donegal County Library branch to register your children for this exciting schedule of events.

It’s a wonderful opportunity for children to make new friends, learn new skills, and potentially win prizes!

For more information, including booking details and event schedules, visit www.donegallibrary.ie or follow @DonegalCountyLibrary on Facebook and @DonegalLibrary on Twitter and Instagram.
