Donegal’s Ladies footballers face a crucial relegation playoff final after their defeat against Armagh this afternoon in the All-Ireland Senior Championship.
The match was a rematch of the Ulster Final, and unfortunately for Donegal, the outcome largely mirrored that previous encounter, with Armagh dominating.
Armagh established a significant lead in the first half, leaving Donegal struggling to find their footing and register any scores.
Jodie McFadden secured Donegal’s first point in the 29th minute, but by that point, Armagh had already amassed 10 points. A swift response from Armagh saw them extend their lead further, entering half-time with a commanding 0-11 to 0-01 advantage.
Donegal struggled to respond effectively in the second half, and despite the efforts of James Daly’s team, Armagh maintained control. The final score stood at 0-15 to 0-05, securing Armagh’s place in the Senior Championship for the following year.
Donegal must now quickly prepare for their relegation playoff final against Leitrim next weekend. The stakes are high, as the loser will be relegated to the Intermediate Championship next year.
