Hollywood royalty Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker are enjoying the All-Ireland final atmosphere in Donegal this weekend.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off star Broderick, whose family has roots in Kilcar, says they’re proudly displaying the county’s green and gold colors.

Matthew Broderick and his wife, Sex and the City actress SJP, have been at their Donegal holiday home for the past two weeks, as the buzz around the All-Ireland final builds.

“The whole county has been crazy for the last two weeks. We have flags up in our yard and sticking out of our car,” Broderick revealed.

“I’ve seen green and yellow cars everywhere. It’s very exciting to be here and be a small part of it.”

Broderick made a surprise appearance on RTE’s Up for the Match program, previewing the Donegal v Kerry game.

Speaking from Towney, Matthew expressed his delight: “I never had a cheer like I did from the crowd tonight!”

Matthew’s connection to Donegal stretches back to childhood, when his parents fell in love with the region and bought a cottage on the coast. Matthew and SJP, who reside in New York, recently renovated the family home.

Kilcar now hosts an underage GAA tournament in memory of Matthew’s parents, James and Patricia Broderick, both keen supporters of the local GAA club.

Matthew joined presenter Marty Morrissey on Up For the Match, broadcasting live from southwest Donegal, where Marty interviewed friends, family, and clubmates of Ryan and Eoin McHugh, and Patrick McBrearty, all playing in Sunday’s final.

The excitement at the club is palpable.
