For Brid Chandler, a devoted Donegal supporter, her wedding day coinciding with the All-Ireland final weekend made the celebration even more extraordinary.
Although Donegal didn’t secure the victory, Brid Chandler has been elated all week after marrying her beloved Thomas Keaveney.
When the couple from Convoy realized their wedding was scheduled for the day before the All-Ireland final, they playfully debated whether to enjoy the game with family and friends or elope to attend the match!
Ultimately, Brid decided to embrace the All-Ireland spirit and incorporate it into their Saturday wedding festivities.
The Donegal flag proudly waved throughout the day, and guests danced to ‘The Hills of Donegal’ during the reception at the Mount Errigal Hotel. Donegal GAA served as a central theme, with mentions woven into the speeches and even the wedding ceremony.

The following day, family and friends gathered at the Mount Errigal Hotel to support Donegal while watching the game on a large screen.
The couple expressed immense gratitude to the staff, particularly Wedding and Events Manager Bronagh Crumlish, who played a crucial role in organizing a surprise for Thomas from Brid: a performance by drag queen entertainer Robyn Diamonds.

Despite the game’s outcome, Brid remains optimistic. “At the end of the day, this is only a practice run for next year,” she asserts, confident that her team will return stronger in 2026.
Brid and Thomas’s journey to marriage spanned 15 years, one month, and six days.
They were initially introduced by a mutual friend and spent weeks connecting over the phone before their first date in Letterkenny. Brid describes Thomas as her “forever soulmate and tolerant of my pranks.”

Laughter and playful antics are clearly central to their relationship, and following the drag queen surprise, Brid admits she now needs to be wary of potential retaliation.
Their long-awaited union was even acknowledged on their wedding cake, which was decorated with Donegal colors and the phrase “About Feckin’ Time!”
Congratulations to the Keaveneys on their special day.
