Callum Devine’s grip on the 2025 Donegal International Rally has tightened after two of his main rivals encountered difficulties on the final stages of the day.

Following a day of high-speed competition, William Creighton had significantly reduced Devine’s advantage, trailing by just 4.9 seconds after Stage 12 and the first pass through Knockalla and Garrygort.

European Champion Hayden Paddon was also in contention for a podium finish until a dramatic roll on Stage 13, the second run through Knockalla, forced his retirement from the rally.

Although Paddon’s Hyundai i20 R2 remained driveable after the incident, he did not record a time for Stage 13, opting to return to service in Letterkenny.

On the final stage of the day, William Creighton’s hopes were dashed when he went off the road during the second run through Garrygort.

Creighton lost almost seven minutes as a result of his excursion, but he remains in the rally, having managed to bring his Toyota Yaris R2 to the stage finish and then to Parc Fermé in Letterkenny.

This leaves Callum Devine with a 20-second lead heading into the final day. The weather forecast suggests uncertainty, adding another layer of complexity for crews who have been pushing to the limit in ideal conditions so far this weekend.

Meirion Evans, from Wales, now sits in second place, 21 seconds behind the leader. He appears on track to at least match his runner-up finish from Donegal 12 months ago, barring any unforeseen issues on Sunday’s stages.

Local driver David Kelly is currently in a remarkable third place in his VW Polo after the misfortunes of Paddon and Creighton. He is one minute and two seconds off the lead and just three seconds ahead of Josh Moffett in fourth.

Below is the full Sunday schedule for the final day of the 2025 Donegal International Rally.

    Sunday:

    Carnhill (SS15): 11am

    Atlantic Drive (SS16): 11:50am

    Fanad (SS17): 12:30pm

    Carnhill 2 (SS18): 2:30pm

    Atlantic Drive 2 (SS19): 3:20pm

    Fanad 2 (SS20): 4:02pm
