    Death mourned of beloved priest, ‘Fr. Billy’ McLaughlin

    Monsignor William McLaughlin, affectionately known as Fr. Billy, ‘Ad Fines Terrae’, of Ardagh, Ballyliffin, has passed away peacefully at the Nazareth House, Fahan.

    Msgr. McLaughlin was 90 years old.

    Originally from Lewis Street in Rosemount, Derry, he had resided in Inishowen for several years.

    During his vocation, he spent 20 years in Los Angeles, serving at Our Lady Queen of Angels in Newport and becoming known as Father Bill.

    He is survived by his brothers Neil, Seán, and Colm. He was predeceased by his sister Mary, and his brothers Michael and Pat.

    He will be deeply missed by Seán’s partner Dácil, his nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends, and neighbours.

    Funeral Arrangements:

    His remains will arrive at St. Mary’s Church, Cockhill, on Wednesday at 1:00pm. All are welcome to pay their respects Wednesday from 1:00pm to 8:00pm, and Thursday from 1:00pm to 8:00pm.

    The Funeral Mass will be held there at 11:00am on Friday morning, followed by burial in the adjacent cemetery.

    Family flowers only, please. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Nazareth House, c/o any family member or Kelly’s Funeral Directors.
