A new initiative is underway to encourage newcomers to experience the benefits of parkrun firsthand.
Vhi’s ‘Your Happy Pace’ is a six-week couch to parkrun programme, commencing on September 1st.
Participants will receive a structured training plan, complemented by weekly in-person coaching sessions led by qualified instructors at six designated parkrun locations nationwide. Additional encouragement and guidance will be provided through webinars and dedicated WhatsApp groups for each location.
Starting today, individuals interested in joining the programme can register at yourhappypace.ie. Up to 50 places are available for the Letterkenny parkrun, along with five other locations across the country.
Vhi ambassador David Gillick (pictured above) commented: “It’s clear from Vhi’s survey of parkrun participants that parkrun generates significant happiness. Whether you choose to walk, jog, run, or volunteer, participating on a Saturday or Sunday morning offers an ideal blend of physical activity and social engagement.”
“That’s why I’m so enthusiastic about Vhi’s new couch to parkrun programme; it eliminates barriers and presents a fantastic opportunity for people throughout Ireland to try parkrun. If you’re interested, don’t hesitate! Register today at yourhappypace.ie, and I hope to see you at one of the parkrun locations during the programme!”
The Letterkenny parkrun is held every Saturday at 9:30 am at St Conal’s Hospital Campus, following a route through the Town Park. Participation is free; you can register at: https://www.parkrun.ie/letterkenny/
You’re welcome to walk, jog, run, volunteer, or simply watch – the choice is yours!
