The Donegal Women’s Centre is hosting a special workshop led by Aidan Gately, Ireland’s first male KonMari Consultant and a renowned decluttering expert.

Aidan Gately, familiar to viewers of RTÉ’s Home Rescue: The Big Fix, will be working with women who are on a journey of healing from domestic abuse.

This impactful initiative aims to empower women to reconnect with their living spaces and rediscover themselves through the transformative practice of tidying. Aidan, just finished recording the eighth season of Home Rescue: The Big Fix, brings his signature blend of empathy and practical guidance to Donegal.

With his assistance, the women will embark on a journey of transformation, using the KonMari Method to tidy their spaces with a mindful and intentional approach, creating an atmosphere of peace, safety, and joy within their homes.

“I’ve always believed that a cluttered environment reflects a cluttered mind, or perhaps it works the other way around,” says Aidan Gately.

“After completing Marie Kondo’s ‘Tidying Festival,’ I experienced a sense of calm and increased happiness in my own home.”

The Donegal Women’s Centre understands that for many women, particularly those who have endured domestic abuse, the concept of ‘home’ can evoke feelings of pain rather than peace. This program is designed to change that perception.

By carefully examining their belongings with reflection and respect, participants will not only reclaim their physical space but will also begin to reclaim their sense of empowerment and personal clarity. This is more than just decluttering; it’s about finding healing through conscious action.

“The person you are meant to be emerges after tidying,” Aidan explains, highlighting the liberating power of letting go.

Aidan Gately stands as one of only 600 KonMari consultants worldwide and recently served as a panelist at a KonMari Consultant Training Course at London’s Excel Centre, alongside the Clean & Tidy Show, with Marie Kondo herself.

Participants will learn how to declutter by category rather than location, making thoughtful choices about what to keep based on what truly sparks joy. The result is a tidy, clutter-free home that radiates inner peace and strength.

This workshop signifies more than just a clean-up; it represents a fresh start. Every woman deserves to feel safe, supported, and joyful in her own home.

This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Donegal Women’s Centre and acclaimed Interior Designer Elaine FitzGerald of Eyra Interiors. Eyra Interiors offers expert, hands-on guidance throughout the interior design journey, from initial plan analysis to the final touches, transforming houses into homes.

The Donegal Women’s Centre eagerly anticipates welcoming Aidan and Elaine to empower women in reclaiming joy and safety within their homes.
