Planning has been approved for the construction of a major new bus interchange at Cork’s Black Ash park and ride facility. Visibly moved at a media conference, the chancellor, Christian Stocker, announced a minute’s silence for 10am on Wednesday to start the period of mourning for the victims of Austria’s deadliest postwar mass shooting. Israel has deported activist Greta Thunberg, the country’s foreign ministry has confirmed. This follows the seizure of the Gaza-bound ship she was traveling on by the Israeli military on Monday. A man from Letterkenny has been convicted after using vice grips to fix a leaking brake pipe on his car. Aidan McCullagh used the vice grips to clamp the leaking brake pipe hose on the front driver’s side wheel of his Honda Civic. The details of the incident were heard at Letterkenny District Court. Sergeant Vincent Muldoon informed the court that Gardaí and the Road Safety Authority were conducting a checkpoint at Cashelshanaghan, Letterkenny, on June 20, 2024. Fifteen police officers have been injured during scenes of serious disorder on the streets of Ballymena. Justice Minister Naomi Long said there can be “no justification” for such “appalling” scenes and police have appealed for calm following the disruption in the Co Antrim town.
