A young Irish swimmer has tragically died after collapsing at the finish line of the Cork City Marathon.Ellen Cassidy, a 24-year-old from Old Mallow Road in Cork City, was one of over 11,000 participants in Sunday’s full and half marathon events, as well as the 10k race.After completing the half marathon, she fell ill near the finish line on St. Patrick’s Street around 1 pm.Emergency medical personnel treated Ms. Cassidy at the scene before transporting her by ambulance to Cork University Hospital.Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after.Ms. Cassidy was a renowned swimmer and a member of…
