Gardaí believe a British-German trafficking gang intended to transport the €31 million cocaine seized in Cork yesterday across the border and onto a ferry to Scotland for distribution throughout the UK. A two-day investigation, which began with surveillance by the Garda National Surveillance Unit and concluded with a high-speed chase of fleeing gang members by Naval Service fast boats, resulted in the arrest of all four individuals involved in the drug importation operation. A survivor of the Sean Ross Abbey mother and baby home in Roscrea has accused the children’s minister of “avoiding” survivors and not engaging with them. A community in Fahan is campaigning to reinstate the Saturday Vigil Mass at their parish church, St Mura’s, after its recent cancellation. Effective this week, the 7.15pm Mass at St Mura’s in Fahan is no longer part of the weekly schedule. The nearest Saturday Vigil Mass will now be held at St Aengus’ in Burt at 6pm. Four-year-old TJ McDaid from Drumkeen is making incredible progress towards walking independently! The remarkable girl, who has severe spina bifida meningocele, recently astonished her physiotherapy team by standing almost completely unassisted.
