Reports from the Los Angeles Fire Department and local media indicate that at least 30 people were injured early Saturday morning when a vehicle drove into a crowd on Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles.
The fire department stated online that at least seven individuals are in critical condition, while six others sustained serious injuries.
Reuters was unable to immediately reach the city’s police department for comment.
The incident occurred just before 2:00 AM local time (9:00 AM Irish time), according to the fire department.
ABC News quoted fire department spokesman Captain Adam VanGerpen as saying that a paramedic discovered a gunshot wound while assessing an injured person. He could not confirm reports about whether the driver of the car that struck the crowd was the victim of the gunshot wound.
According to VanGerpen, the car apparently hit a taco truck outside the venue before crashing through a valet stand and into a large group of people.
Videos shared on X showed roads being closed off, and ambulances transporting patients.
Authorities have not yet released details regarding the cause of the incident or the identity of the driver.
