A local couple celebrated their Arranmore Island wedding today with an extra splash of “something blue”!
Aisling Cox and Phil Coll’s wedding coincided with the historic launch of the brand new ‘Arranmore Blu’ passenger and vehicle ferry.
The ferry launch and naming ceremony brought celebrations from Burtonport to Arranmore, complete with a fantastic crowd and lively music on the pier.
Adding to the excitement of the day, the first wedding party to cross on the Arranmore Blu was none other than Aisling and Phil’s.
Teacher and Arranmore RNLI crew member Aisling Cox married Phil Coll today, and the ferry crew were honored to have the wedding guests travel aboard the new vessel.
The Arranmore Blu is replacing the long-serving MV Morvern. The Morvern, originally built in 1972, previously operated as part of the Caledonian MacBrayne fleet.
The modern Arranmore Blu was designed by Simon Cormack of Marine Design Ltd and built by Ewen Ferguson and his skilled team at Bute Boat Builders.
The new ferry represents a significant boost for Arranmore’s tourism industry, offering increased capacity and improved passenger comfort.
