Guy Bridge, a professional water sports athlete, has achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the first person to successfully hydrofoil from Tory Island to Magheroarty Pier.
Bridge conquered the 14 km voyage across choppy waters in an impressive 59 minutes – only 14 minutes slower than the standard ferry crossing!
For those unfamiliar, a hydrofoil is an underwater wing that elevates a board above the water’s surface, creating the sensation of “flying” just above the waves.
Hailing from Exmouth, Bridge is renowned for pushing the boundaries of wingfoiling, surf foiling, and downwind challenges.
He journeyed to Tory Island via the morning ferry and then used wind, swell, and his hydrofoil board to complete the return trip.
The @toryferry team shared this impressive accomplishment (see below), and you can follow Guy’s adventures on Instagram: @guy_bridge.
