Authorities are awaiting instructions in the case of two men detained following a burglary in Kilmacrennan in June.

Brandon McGinley and Adrian Mitchell appeared at Letterkenny District Court this week via video link from Castlerea Prison, where they remain in custody since their arrest.

The two men allegedly possessed a baseball bat and machete during the incident in the Gort Na Rí area of Kimacrennan during the early morning hours of June 10, 2025.

McGinley, 25, and Mitchell, 19, both residing at Glenard Park, Long Lane, Letterkenny, face charges of trespassing and committing an indictable offense by producing an article capable of causing serious injury, violating Section 11 of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act, 1990.

This charge falls under Section 12 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act, 2001.

McGinley and Mitchell were apprehended after a manhunt was initiated. Law enforcement had appealed to the public for information regarding two men seen riding a scrambler motorbike in the Gort Na Rí area.

They were previously denied bail during a session at Buncrana District Court. This week, Sergeant Jim Collins informed the court that the case file has been submitted, and the State aims to “expedite matters.”

Solicitor Rory O’Brien, representing both men, stated, “Time is passing.”

The court was informed that Mitchell’s High Court bail application was denied last week, and Sergeant Collins mentioned “matters to clarify” concerning that defendant.

The pair are scheduled to appear again before Letterkenny District Court next month, awaiting directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Earlier in the month, Mr. O’Brien expressed he was reserving his rights upon learning that the file had not yet been sent to the DPP, adding, “I would have thought that the file would have been progressed given the effort given to the bail objection.”
