    Donegal County Council is pushing for increased Garda resources to combat the growing problem of anti-social driving throughout the county.

    The issue was raised at a council meeting today by Councillor Terry Crossan, representing Muff. He warned that serious consequences are “only a matter of time” if this behaviour continues unchecked.

    “We’ve seen a rise in extremely serious incidents of dangerous and anti-social driving, particularly in our smaller towns and public spaces,” Cllr Crossan stated.

    “A more visible Garda presence and a more proactive approach are needed to eliminate this kind of behaviour.”

    Cllr Crossan requested that the council formally write to the Garda Chief Superintendent, urging them to allocate more resources to address this pressing issue.

    Councillor Albert Doherty supported the motion, adding that the Garda station in Carndonagh exemplifies the need for investment in improved and modern facilities for law enforcement.

    “This is a very relevant issue, and it’s crucial that gardaí have the adequate and modern resources they need to tackle it effectively,” Cllr Doherty emphasized.
