Erin Friel, a Donegal athlete, has qualified for the 400m final at the European Youth Olympic Festival.
The 17-year-old is representing Ireland against top European competitors at the prestigious event in Macedonia.
The Letterkenny AC athlete dominated her heat, winning the third heat at the Toše Proeski Arena in Skopje with a time of 54.68 seconds.
Loreto Letterkenny, her school, quickly offered their congratulations on her achievement.
The young athlete from Newtowncunningham will compete in the final tomorrow morning.
Friel is also scheduled to participate in the medley relay later this week.
