Donegal County Council spent €22,500 on live streaming council meetings in the past year, according to recent reports.

From July 1st, 2024, to June 30th, 2025, a total of 23 council meetings were broadcast live, both online and on the Council’s Facebook page.

These broadcasts, averaging two per month, provided approximately 73 hours of content to the public.

Councillor Fionán Bradley was informed that the €22,500 covered software licensing, hardware support and replacements, as well as external technical assistance during the live meetings.

In addition to external support, two in-house staff members provide technical support on meeting days to ensure the smooth operation of the live streams.

The live streams attract an average of 10,000 views on Facebook.

All meetings are archived and accessible for later viewing at https://donegalcoco.public-i.tv.

While Plenary meetings, AGMs, and Special Plenary Meetings on Housing are currently live-streamed, there have been calls to also live stream meetings of the Defective Concrete Block Committee, citing significant public interest.
