At least 19 people were injured, four seriously, following a fireworks malfunction at a fair in Dusseldorf, Germany, according to officials.
The incident occurred late Friday at the Rheinkirmes event, situated along the Rhine river. Reports and images from the scene depicted fireworks detonating close to ground level.
A child was among those injured, according to the news agency.
Dusseldorf fire service stated that a police investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
The Rheinkirmes is a 10-day fair featuring amusement park rides, drone displays, fireworks, and other entertainment provided by numerous staff on the left bank of the Rhine, opposite Dusseldorf’s historic center.
