Irish athlete Mark English continued his impressive form with a solid performance at today’s Diamond League event in London.

English has repeatedly broken his own Irish 800m record this year, most recently claiming victory at the FBK Games in June.

The 800m race at London’s Olympic Park featured a highly competitive field, boasting numerous Olympic-level athletes.

English delivered a strong performance, finishing seventh with a time of 1:44.07 – a mere fraction of a second off his personal best and the Irish record.

English is now focusing his efforts on the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in September. Given his current performance, he may have a slim chance of securing a medal.
