Following a burst undersea pipeline, water tankers and bottled water are now being supplied to residents of Gola Island.
The island community, located off the Gweedore coast, has experienced a disruption to its water supply since Monday due to the rupture of the main pipeline beneath the seabed.
Approximately forty properties are affected by the outage.
Damien O’Sullivan of Uisce Éireann has stated that the repair is particularly complex given the logistical difficulties associated with the subsea infrastructure.
“We are asking the public to refrain from unnecessary travel near the affected infrastructure, which is marked with buoys in the bay, and to carefully conserve any stored water supplies they may have.”
