A collection of previously unreleased and known Beatles-era photographs taken by George Harrison will be published next year.
Random House has announced the upcoming release of “The Third Eye” in autumn 2026. The book features over 250 black and white and colour images.
Compiled and curated by George Harrison’s widow, Olivia Harrison, “The Third Eye” spans from 1963 to 1969. The photos capture The Beatles in various locations, from their hometown of Liverpool to India and Shea Stadium.
In a statement released by Random House, Olivia Harrison described her late husband’s photographic perspective: “I want to show people, from George’s unique photographic perspective during the Beatles’ early years, the moments when the whole of your life is ahead of you with unknowable possibilities.” George Harrison passed away in 2001.
“His images in The Third Eye capture that spirit,” she added.
“The Third Eye” features essays by Olivia Harrison, an introduction by Irish novelist Colm Toibin (former chancellor of the University of Liverpool), and an epilogue by American short story writer George Saunders.
George Harrison’s own words will accompany his photographs in the book.
Other Beatles members, Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Ringo Starr, have also released collections of their photographs.
Sir Ringo’s “Photograph,” sharing its name with a song he co-wrote with Harrison, was released in 2015.
Sir Paul published “1964: Eyes Of The Storm” in 2023.
