Erin Friel, a member of Letterkenny AC, has been chosen to represent Team Ireland at this year’s European Youth Olympic Festival as one of 35 athletes.

The event will be held in Skopje, North Macedonia, from July 20th to 27th.

Erin, a 17-year-old student at Loreto Letterkenny, will compete in the 400m and the Medley Relay.

Dermot McGranaghan from Finn Valley will be attending as an athletics coach.

Michael Black of Letterkenny AC will serve as the team leader for the cycling squad.

The EYOF is a significant event in the development of young athletes. It mirrors the Olympic Games, providing a valuable experience in a multi-sport environment. This year’s edition will feature over 4,000 athletes from forty-eight European countries.

Team Ireland departs for Skopje on July 18th, with competitions commencing on July 20th. You can follow the Games coverage on https://eoctv.org/, and find daily recaps and results of the Irish team’s performance on the Team Ireland channels.
