Lough Swilly Lifeboat’s volunteer crew responded to a call for assistance from a yacht last night.

At 10 PM, Malin Head Coast Guard alerted the crew to a vessel experiencing difficulties on Lough Swilly, with two people onboard.

The Atlantic 85 Inshore Lifeboat launched swiftly, and the crew proceeded to the yacht’s location. Upon arrival, the yacht was underway again. The decision was made to anchor just beyond Fahan Marina while awaiting the rising tide to ensure safe entry into the marina.

Afterward, the volunteer crew returned to Ned’s Point, refueled the lifeboat, and prepared it for further service.

If you encounter difficulties in or on the water, or witness someone in distress, remember to dial 999 or 112 and request the Coast Guard.
