Hamas has announced it has responded “positively” to the most recent proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza. However, the organization indicated that further discussions are necessary regarding its implementation.
The statement from Hamas leaves it unclear whether or not they have accepted the 60-day ceasefire proposal put forth by US President Donald Trump.
Hamas has consistently sought assurances that this initial truce would ultimately lead to a complete cessation of hostilities in the war, which is now approaching the 21-month mark.
In their statement released late Friday, Hamas stated that they have “delivered the response to the mediators, which was positive”.
