Police have successfully dismantled what they believe to be one of the largest cannabis operations uncovered in the North West in recent years.
Suspected cannabis plants, estimated to have a street value of £1.4 million, were seized during a planned search operation in the Strabane area. The searches are still ongoing. Authorities also seized drug cultivation and supply paraphernalia.
Detectives from the Organised Crime Branch, investigating suspected drug-related crime linked to the INLA, led the operation earlier today.
Officers from Derry City and Strabane, the Tactical Support Group, police dog handlers, and police dogs all participated in the operation.
Two individuals have been arrested and are currently in custody. Inquiries are continuing.

Detective Inspector Pyper from the Organised Crime Branch stated, “We have dismantled a large and sophisticated suspected cannabis operation, discovering row upon row of suspected cannabis plants spanning two floors of the building.”
Derry City & Strabane Area Commander, Chief Superintendent Gillian Kearney, commented, “Drugs inflict misery on our communities, a reality we have witnessed far too often. Large-scale drug operations are invariably linked to organised crime gangs, who prioritize profit above the harm they inflict. This significant operation reflects the Police Service’s dedication to combating drug supply in Northern Ireland.”
The PSNI urges anyone with information regarding suspected drug-related activity in their area to contact them on the non-emergency number 101, or anonymously through Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
Reports can also be submitted online via the non-emergency reporting form at http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/
